I grew up eating Smith's Nougat, Orange and Melon Jelly, all my favorite sweets. The Three Fong Brothers are the second generation owners of Smith Confectionery factory. Their father is the first generation Mr Smith, who started making nougat at his home in Shau Kei Wan and moved to the current location in 1978. Talking to the eldest brother Fong, I can sense the hardship in operating the last remaining sweet factory in Hong Kong. They insisted on staying in HK to maintain good standards and safeguard the reputation of "made in HK". The spirit and determination of our older generation.
